body:language #2 - Akram Khan

interview series

Auteur:

The body:language booklets are annotated and illustrated documentations of artist talks which took place in the Lilian Baylis Studio at Sadler's Wells between 2008 and 2011.

In conversation with Guy Cools the choreographer and dancer Akram Khan develops the theme of the 'bi-temporal' body that exists within the tension between classical training and contemporary expression. Incorporated in this theme are questions of cultural identity in Khan's work, as well as his numerous close collaborations with other artists.
